I have been living with BK virus for 3 years and had a transplant in 2007. I am currently 52 years old.
Up until a few months ago, my kidneys were always working fine. My urinalysis, blood pressure, and pulse were always fine. I was always able to work full time. I had only one fall down the stairs 3 years ago. It was no big deal and I got right up and continued to work full time. My doctor was not alarmed and I even had good results on my urinalysis.
But in the last several months my kidneys have been failing. After seeing my nephrologist I started on my maintenance dialysis 3 times a week and I now have a blood pressure monitor. My blood pressure is really low most days. My nephrologist said that this is a sign of kidney failure. In fact, I am on dialysis at least three times a week and my kidney failure is progressing. I can barely get up out of a chair and I get more tired when I walk. I just got my blood pressure up a few days ago but it dropped again. I am not experiencing any pain in my body at all. I am never really sick unless it is strep throat or a cold.
My question to you all is, why am I getting worse even though I was ok before? I never had any major illnesses. I ate well and never ate a lot of food.
I am a 50 year old woman. I have been diagnosed with BK virus for about 3 years. I had a kidney transplant in 2007. I am on my first dialysis. I have also been treated with Prednisone. My current blood pressure is 107/64. I do not have any pain in my body. I am very tired and have no energy. Is this a sign of kidney failure? Why am I getting worse?
